    At Last the Madness Ends…

    Tasha Alexander Icon

Well, I promised a full debriefing of Birthday Madness, but look, there are some things a girl just doesn’t talk about in public. So what can I tell you?

First, I was showered with an inordinate heap of presents over the course of an entire week. All were wonderful, but my Brilliant Scientist in particular more than outdid himself. Not only did he have the cover flats for all my books matted and framed, he got me an entire case of popcorn and a new chalk bag. During my party, I learned (or, rather, observed) that $4/bottle wine and bourbon apparently go together. Who knew? I’m still not quite sure I believe it and, sadly, don’t have more of either on hand to test the theory.

Also got to watch Firefly projected. This did lead two of my closest friends to proclaim me an Insane Geek, but I think even they enjoyed it. And, really, what’s cooler than having a movie theater all to yourself? Getting to pick which episode you want next for as long as you want? I dare you to show me something better than that!

Finally, after the Great Firefly Birthday Extravaganza, the following quotes were spoken aloud during an extended period of strange influences (read: wine) and undue duress (don’t ask). Although none of us will ever admit who said what, I can assure you that every one of these statements was completely innocent and referred to nothing but things utterly innocuous. Just goes to show how misleading words really can be…

I’ll play with his rain stick!

    Who’s the big dumb guy?

    I like his big bullets.

Don’t touch it! I’ll be right up!

There will be spanks raining down from the sky.

If you do that again, there will be whores.

    He’ll say you’re wasting food.

I have issues touching it with my bare hands.

I’m just not going to do it again until after the first of the year.

I just took one birth control pill and three xanax.

    I couldn’t swallow it.

Is that a tangerine in your pants?

    Maybe they’ll just leave.

Pictures of the fun here. I can’t wait until next year…

    xo

P.S. I revamped my website. Swing by and let me know what you think!

    1. What a wonderful bd party! Sounds like your friends are wonderful.

Hey off the subject, could Laura email me or anyone who’s attending the saturday get together here in St. Louis? I’d love to come but don’t have the info. (lynnsalisbury@hotmail.com)

Lynn (Not really a stalker. Really, guys…)

    2. Aw, Lynn, we love you! I know I speak for all the Good Girls when I say that if we ever did have a stalker, we’d want her to be just like you!

    3. Hey Lynn, I’ll go e-mail you now.

    5. Hiya, Tash! Thanks for keeping any horrid pictures of me off the site. (One of these days maybe we’ll get a picture I don’t mind. Not this year, though.) I like the new setup you’ve got. Have a safe trip this weekend. Next week?

    6. Sounds like good clean fun to me….

    7. Thanks, Sara!

Jennie, we’ll get a decent shot one of these days. Let’s definitely try to get together next week. I don’t think I have to do anything except, oh, write a book….

Dusty, it’s always good, clean fun with me!

    8. I wasn’t invited. Dusty, were you?

by Jamie on December 14th, 2007 at 10:58 am

    9. Of course you were invited!!! EVERYONE was invited! Yet only my Kristy would cough up the cash for a plane ticket……

by Tasha Alexander on December 14th, 2007 at 11:00 am

    10. I think next year the invitations need to be a bit more explicit as to date and time. I’ve got frequent flyer miles, baby. And the lure of cheap wine, well, I’m easy.

by judy larsen on December 14th, 2007 at 11:20 am

    11. Judy, if you come, we’ll spring for the good wine!

    12. The website looks fantastic, Tasha!!!

    13. The cheap wine was surprisingly good, though I’m still hacked I had to miss Firefly. Grr. And I owe you that bottle of Blanton’s…

LOVE the new website. Your books covers just keep getting cooler! xo

    14. I was invited. Some of us, however, do not live the lives of the Idle Rich.

    15. Thanks Tasha for the kind words! I’d make a good stalker if I just had any time. Between driving to work, doing that which they pay me for, driving home, driving to darts, playing, driving home, at least I have the driving part down! I swear I’m spending half of my waking hours in a car recently.

And after getting all the particulars of the St. Louis Chapter of the Good Girls Fan Club meeting, it snowed last night and I have no way in as my bf took my car with the new tires to work.

Thanks Judy for getting back with me.
Drink a mocha for me if you get there.
