Well, I hope everyone had a very nice Christmas. Is your Christmas tree looking as sad as mine? It’s a pitiful sight. Without the presents to distract you, you really can’t avoid noticing the drooping branches that are dropping needles at a truly alarming rate.
Since we’re so close to New Year’s Day, I know it won’t be long before “resolution” will be the buzzword. We established last year that most of the Good Girls (all?) don’t do resolutions, but I know that at this time of year we can’t help looking back over the last twelve months and assessing what’s happened.
I’m curious—what’s happened to you, personal or professional, during 2007? What have you celebrated this year? Have you achieved a goal? What would you do differently if you could do it over? Any thoughts?
See you in 2008!

Actually I did two resolutions last year. Get healthy-which I thought would be about losing 20 pounds and getting my annual dr visits done, not fighting breast cancer.
The second resolution was to write more. And actually that has happened. Now I didn’t meet my goals but I did send out several pieces, started a new novel rather than finish either of the ones I have and just wrote for fun for a while.
As for work, I met all my goals and have been asked to be co-editor for our division newsletter. So I am reaching out to be more ME in all my life activities.
I think my one regret is the days I didn’t write anything. Maybe if I had, one of those novels would be done and I could move on to write the better ones that are in me.

2007: Sold a book series (not the one I wanted to sell, but still) and wrote the first book in the series. Had surgery. Lost 10 pounds. Joined two writers organizations. Went to one conference.
2008: Lose 20 pounds. Write two more books. Sell the other series (not that it’s really up to me, but I can hope…) Go to two conferences and be on a panel. Avoid having surgery.
Continued happy holidays, y’all, and a happy new year!

Given the way the year’s gone, we have all survived and that, my Good Girls, is the best we could have hoped for.
2008, I’ll finish this book and take Jenny to Italy.
I can already pay the ukulele.
