    Sorry Folks

    Laura Bradford Icon

    Park’s closed.

Moose out front shoulda told ya.

Translation: I’ll be back next week. In the meantime, if you know who said this and in what movie…leave it in the comments along with a line for the next person to guess. And so on, and so on. Have fun!

    Hugs,
    ~Laura

    1. Who, I don’t know, but Movie, National Lampoon’s Summer Vacation?

Ok, I got a new line: If this is how they celebrate Christmas, I’ve gotta be here for New Years.

by Lynn on January 29th, 2008 at 7:19 am

    2. John Candy. National Lampoon’s Vacation.

My line: “Oh, it’s not the speed really so much, I just wish I hadn’t drunk all that cough syrup this morning. ”

See ya when you get back, kiddo…

by J.D. Rhoades on January 29th, 2008 at 7:21 am

    3. I’m drawing a blank on Lynn’s and J.D.’s.

      Here’s mine:

“Although she lives with seven other men, she’s not easy.”

by Heather on January 29th, 2008 at 8:46 am

    4. I got Laura’s. Is Lynn’s from The Ref? JD’s is on the tip of my tongue and will probably drive me nuts all day. I have no clue about Heather’s.

Here’s mine: “I had the most absurd nightmare. I was poor and nobody liked me.”

by B.E. Sanderson on January 29th, 2008 at 9:50 am

    5. Wow, except for Laura’s, I’m drawing a blank, too, although like B.E. I think I know JD’s, I’m just not able to grab it answer from my cluttered mind.

How about an easy one: “It is his life. It is his passion.”
“It is his fault he didn’t lock the garage.”

by Kate Hathway on January 29th, 2008 at 9:58 am

    6. Laura’s quote is said by Daniel Day-Lewis in “My Left Foot”.

Lynn’s guote is said by Harvey Keitel in “The Last Temptation of Christ”.

JD’s quote is said by Morgan Freeman in “Driving Miss Daisy”.

Heather’s quote is said by Ben Kingsley in “Schindler’s List”.

B.E.’s quote is said by Oprah Winfrey in “The Color Purple”.

Kate’s quote is said by Jack Nicholson in “Batman”.

by Theo Epstein on January 29th, 2008 at 10:18 am

    7. Theo: Heh.

BE: Dan Akroyd in Trading Places?

Lynn: I finally remembered! Argyle in “Die Hard.” I am ashamed it took me so long.

      Heather, Kate: no clue.

Here’s a new one: “Now if I have suspicion a felony’s been committed, I can just walk right in here anytime I feel like it, ’cause I got this badge, I got this gun, and I got the love of Jesus right here in my pretty green eyes.”

by JDRhoades on January 29th, 2008 at 11:21 am

    8. I got Laura’s but I’m stumped on all the others except JD’s last one. That’s a Clint Eastwood movie, I believe, but darn if I can recall the title!

Here’s mine: “You aren’t too smart. I like that in a man.”

by Texas Lynn on January 29th, 2008 at 4:17 pm

    9. LOL Theo. Too funny.

Exactly right, JD. I love that movie.

I’m still stumped on all the rest of them, though.

by B.E. Sanderson on January 29th, 2008 at 4:28 pm

    10. Oo! Oo, oo! (TV reference, sorry)
      I got Texas Lynn’s - it’s from Body Heat.

Gee, and I thought mine was so easy. Here’s a little more: “… It’s a 1961 Ferrari GT California. My father loves this car. It is his life. It is his passion.” “It is his fault he didn’t lock the garage.”

Also (same film) “… A man with his priorities so far out of whack doesn’t deserve such a fine automobile.”

by Kate Hathway on January 29th, 2008 at 4:51 pm

    11. Kate–Ferris Bueller’s Day Off? For some reason it rings a bell.

Hint on mine: It’s a magic mirror talking to a vertically challenged king.

by Heather on January 29th, 2008 at 5:07 pm

    12. Kate, you guessed it, Kathleen Turner’s quote in Body Heat! And yours is from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, right?

by Texas Lynn on January 29th, 2008 at 5:09 pm

    13. Rats, Heather, you beat me to the punch on Kate’s clues! 8O I have no earthly idea on yours, the hints suggest a kid’s movie?

by Texas Lynn on January 29th, 2008 at 5:12 pm

    14. Kate, I do recognize the “Oo! Oo, oo!” That was Arnold Horshack on Welcome Back Kotter. I used to love that show!

by Texas Lynn on January 29th, 2008 at 5:22 pm

    15. To paraphrase Ed McMahon: “You are correct, sir!”
And Heather, that makes yours from Shrek, yes?
Lynn, oh, yeah, great show! Remember John Travolta’s hair?

by Kate Hathway on January 29th, 2008 at 6:19 pm

    16. Texas Lynn: You’re right! It’s from “The Gauntlet.”

No takers on the cough syrup line? Here’s another one from the same movie, same scene: “Ma’am, I’m sure there are a lot of ways I’ve gone that you haven’t.”

by J.D. Rhoades on January 29th, 2008 at 6:46 pm

    17. Again, I say, “Oo! Oo, oo!”
JD - that’s from Stripes. (Along with one of my favorite lines “…Lighten up, Francis”)

by Kate Hathway on January 29th, 2008 at 7:18 pm

    18. Kate, you’re right–it’s from Shrek, referring to Snow White.

by Heather on January 29th, 2008 at 8:06 pm

    19. You all have had way too much fun today while I’ve been working!

I think the only reason I remembered that line from Die Hard was we just watched it last night. There’s another one that Mr. Willis says during the movie that I wanted to quote, but I forgot what it was. Chemo brain….

Love the Stripes quotes. Bill Murray can say anything and I’ll laugh. Except maybe Lost in Translation which lost me.
