As promised, my fellow MS walkers and I have poured over your suggestions for a team name, looking for one that grabbed us just right. And while each of us had two or three individual favorites, one emerged as a consistent across all of our lists.
So, without further ado…
*Drum roll, please*
The winning name—MSKeteers—came from “Beth.” In appreciation of her creativity, Blog Reader Beth will receive a copy of each of our most recent books and a $15 Starbucks gift card.
*Pause for the sound of thunderous applause to slowly subside*
Now that we have our name, we can have a site. And thanks to my amazing friend, Heather, it’s already up and running. This link (click here) will take you to our team page. That’s where you can read about what we’re doing and why. Then, at the bottom of that page, you’ll find each of our names (if a few of our walkers are missing OR some haven’t personalized their page yet, it’s coming). Our names are links to our individual pages where you’ll find lots more information as well as ways YOU can help, too. For my part, I’ve included a mini-blog on the bottom of my page to provide a little insight into how this disease impacts life. It’s something I hope to refresh every few days or so.
We’ll update things as necessary and we hope you’ll visit often over the next five weeks to see how we’re doing on reaching our goal.
In closing, I want to send out an extra special thank you to Blog Reader Texas Lynn who read last week’s post and responded by joining a team in her hometown. And to Will and Joe for deciding they want to walk with our team!
Together we CAN make a difference!
Hugs,
~Laura

I’m looking forward to walking with the GGs for such a great cause. At least the team name isn’t a girly theme, so I won’t have to walk way behind the group.
By the way, while the midwest gets socked with another ice and snow storm, it’s a balmy 65 degrees here in Los Angeles.

Thanks Will. My other blog I read the blogger is in Florida. And I’m stuck in the sleet.

By the way, the name, MSKeteers, reminds me of that movie, That Thing You Do.
Everyone called the band, The Oneders
The O Knee Ders
“From now on its The Wonders”
“You mean like, I wonder what happened to the Oneders?”
My minds accepts the name as the MSkeeters.

Laura, not only are you talented and beautiful, you have amazing courage and drive! We are blessed to know you! Katherine and I will be joining you on your walk and looking for others to join too. Imagine if every book reader donated a dollar…they would have the money to find a cure for MS in no time!
Cheers!

I’m so glad you liked the MSketeers name!
And here I was, worried that you’d think it was a GOOFY idea!
This just shows that you don’t have to be a PLUTOcrat like “The DONALD” to make a difference because you have so many supporters willing to CHIP in. Every step of this walk, over hill and DALE will be another step closer to a cure. You will be helping so MINNIE people with your efforts, and I think that’s wonderful.

Beth’s Dumbo post is making Theo Grumpy.

Laura, I’m going to do everything I can to join you MSKeteers! Are you getting tired of me saying you’re an inspiration?

Will, I love the Wonders. Great movie. Great lines.
Thanks, Sharon. *blush* Love your $1 a book idea. You might be onto something. Borders and Barnes & Noble folks: Are you reading this?!?!?! Looking forward to walking with you and Katherine.
Beth, I hate to say this…but Heather and I saw it as MSKeteers as in “musketeers”. Oops.
Theo–cute!
Tasha, we’d love to have you!!!

I thought Musketeers at first, too, but then went the Mouseketeer route after you mentioned Annette Funicello. Sorry I went overboard. I couldn’t help myself
