I’m Leavin’ On a Jet Plane

    Laura Bradford Icon

As you’re reading today’s blog, most of the Good Girls are rooting through their closets in search of professional wear for the annual Malice Domestic Conference in Washington D.C. And I, for one, am psyched!

For those who might not know what Malice is, it’s essentially the place to be if you enjoy cozy mysteries. Each year, roughly eight hundred readers and authors flock to the nation’s capital for three days of panels, signings, and fun. This year’s conference officially kicks off on Friday (though yours truly will be flying in a day early—purely for sightseeing, of course  ).

While this will be my fourth Malice, I find myself just as excited as I was for the first (and the second, and the third). Each and every conference has brought an unforgettable “first” and an assortment of great new memories.

April of 2005 marked my first-ever Malice. The fact that it happened to coincide with the launch of my very first book just made it all the more special. Everywhere I went I met more and more readers, each group nicer than the one before (a tough feat, I tell you). Many of those readers have become familiar faces I can’t wait to see at each new event.

April of 2006 brought my first (and hopefully not my last) opportunity to wear a very cool nametag that sported the words, Agatha nominee, across the top. I don’t think I’ve ever felt that special before.

April of 2007 brought hang-time with the Good Girls and, boy, did we have fun (Diana made me laugh so hard my face hurt)! Click here if you’re looking for a refresher on last year’s antics.

Which brings us to this year’s Malice and…

~Sightseeing and shopping with my best friend on Thursday.

~Reconnecting with all the amazing readers I’ve met over the past three years.

~Getting giddy with the Good Girls in the hotel lounge.

~Attending my first-ever big publisher dinner. As one of their authors…

****Pause as the last item sinks into the minds of GG readers****

That’s right, folks. Mo needs a raise!

I’ll be back next week with con pictures!

    Hugs,

    ~Laura

The reward for hanging in there and working hard. Relax and enjoy Laura.

Have fun GGs. I’m hoping someone will blog after-

“~Getting giddy with the Good Girls in the hotel lounge.”

Steven, Dusty, we need to send somebody to get pictures. The ones that the GGs won’t post.

    10. Thanks, Stephen and Dusty!

Will, us GG’s are always on our best behavior. A planted photographer would do you no good.

      Thanks, Judy and Jennie B!

B.E., you’ll be there soon. I know it!

Hugs to you, heather and get those sightseeing shoes ready!

      Theo, behave while we’re away.

Sara, looking forward to seeing you soon!
