Well, folks, I hate to admit it, but I don’t have anything to say today. Nothing to blog about.
I’ve scoured the web and checked my list of ideas and can’t come up with anything interesting. I’m all out of wit, pith, insight, and even snark.
It’s probably because it’s the dog days of summer and I want nothing more than to laze about and eat mint chocolate chip ice cream while alternately reading books and watching Burn Notice. (Not that I’m doing that, mind you. I have two kids and there’s not much lazing about going on in our house.)
Anyway, my question for you is…if you blog (and I know many of our faithful GG readers do) do you have times like this? What do you do? Or, if you don’t blog, are there any mystery/writing-related topics you’d like to see pop up on the blog in the future? I’m waiting, pen—er, fingers poised.

I blog, but I’m a more faithful reader here than I am a blogger. Mostly my blog is for my move away from the only home I’ve known for 40+ years and so I rarely run out of things that make me go Huh? Like Toasted Ravioli. But I only blog once a week or less.
I too am worn out by the heat. Once I get home I want to veg, not be creative and sharp.
Do you watch In Plain Sight at all? I’m beginning to like these really strong female characters on cable series like Saving Grace and the Closer and now Mary in In Plain Sight.

I blog, but only once a month (on Working Stiffs) or when someone - like Diana - asks me to fill in for a week or two somewhere else. My own blog is pretty much just for updates. I usually have a blog post or two just sitting around waiting, because I can’t always count on the muse to visit when I need him, so I grab him when I have the chance. For the past month or so, I’ve written several blog posts; I finished DIY#2 by July 1 (deadline; yay, me!) and with two kids home from school for the summer, starting DIY#3 right away didn’t seem fair. So I’ve written blog posts instead. Turned out they came in handy when Diana needed guest bloggers. I’ll be doing another on Monday, btw.:)

I’ve only caught a few minutes of In Plain Sight, Lynn. I’ll have to check it out. Cable does seem to be the place to find good stuff lately.

I got nothin’

Same here, Will. But, hey, you can always blog about nothing to blog about.
JennieB, I’m glad you had those posts stockpiled. I’ve enjoyed them and I know Diana appreciates the break. I try to work ahead, too, with the blog. I helps me to know I have something in reserve and there’s usually something out there that catches my attention. Just not this week, I guess.

This happens to me all the time, but not having anything to say should be no obstacle for a dedicated blogger.

I’m always at a loss for a blog topic. It seems a lot of my ideas come from others so, uh, obviously they’ve been DONE. Ah well. At least with the group blog stuff there’s not the pressure to write every day and yet even without that pressure I still struggle for ideas!
-
Glad to know I’m not the only one, J.D. and Stephanie. A group blog is much nicer than the everyday blog, which I tried, but couldn’t keep up. So J.D., what do you’re stumped for a topic?

I definitely blog and read, but mostly get ideas for my next read by skipping around the blogosphere to see what great next book is out there. One I came across recently for a great mystery/thriller is titled Bear Any Burden by Ellis Goodman. The story moves smoothly back and forth between the eras, with great characters, good pacing, and lively action, totally keeping me guessing until the very end. LOVED it!

I don’t blog regularly, but am always on the lookout for new mystery/espionage books from other bloggers.
Ironically, I too read the novel, “Bear Any Burden,” by Ellis Goodman, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Anyone who loves the mystery thriller genre will enjoy this read. It also includes a little romance in the story. Highly recommend it. Hope the author writes a sequel!
