    Happy Thanksgiving.

    Jennie Bentley Icon

Yes, I know I’m a few days early, but since I won’t be back for two weeks, I figure this is my chance. Hope y’all have a wonderful time with family and friends, turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie, lasagna, or whatever blows your skirts up.

Personally, I’m heading out to the mountains. The Smoky Mountains National Park, to be more specific, in East Tennessee. Even more specifically, that tourist trap, Gatlinburg. We don’t have any family here in Tennessee, and the fifteen hour drive to Philadelphia is too long when the kids only have four days off school, including the weekend, so we’ve rented a cabin and plan to spend the holiday enjoying the woodburning fireplace, the view of the mountains, and - for the kids - the cable TV.

I’m not real big on TV - it comes from having grown up in a time and country where childrens programming was limited to 30 minutes a night, from 6:00 to 6:30 - so I’ll be bringing a few books. Top of the stack: our own Tasha Alexander’s “Tears of Pearl,” which I picked up when the darling girl was here in Nashville in September, but which I’ve been too busy to start. I’ve also got JD Robb’s “Kindred in Death” to go, as well as “Racing the Devil” by buddy E. Michael Terrell, and an ARC of “City of Dragons” by the wonderful Kelli Stanley. If you’re not familiar with Kelli, I dare you to check her out.

And speaking of ARCs… if anyone would like a digital copy of “A Cutthroat Business,” coming from yours truly in June - this is the non-DIY-series book, about the Nashville Realtor and Southern Belle and the hot guy on the Harley - drop me a line and I’ll send you a link. My publisher has kindly provided me with a complete PDF - cover art, typos, and all - and told me I can share it with a few friends. If you don’t mind reading on the computer, and you’d like a sneak peek, don’t be shy!

    Till next time!

    2. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Jennie, I sent you a note on FB. Thanks for the offer, and have a grand time in the mountains!

    3. Happy Thanksgiving, Jennie. Don’t get eaten by a bear or anything like that.

I’m hoping to balance some writing this week with a little reading. I’m currently reading Even by Andrew Grant who signed a copy for me at Bouchercon.

    4. A week in a cabin in the woods, with TV? Heaven!

I just got back from my trip to Mark Twain ville… loved the cave. The MT center was partially down for rennovations so that was disappointing. But the river view took my breath away.

Reading this long week? New Moon - before the movie gets on CD. A few Iris Johansen’s Eve Duncan series to get me caught up and Killer Summer by Ridley Pearson because I’m missing Idaho.
Hope you have a great Thanksgiving.

    6. Jen, my dear, thank you so much for the shout-out!! Hope you enjoy your alter ego’s bit.

I’m planning on indulging in A Cutthroat Business this weekend–the first chapter had me riveted!!

Have a safe, warm and wonderful Thanksgiving, and hugs from San Francisco!

    7. Thanks, everyone! Karen, Lynn and Hank, it’s in the mail. And Kelli, my pleasure. I haven’t gotten to my alter ego’s part yet; I got sidetracked with my own pesky manuscript. But at least I’m finished, sort of, and will be sending it off soon. And then it’s back to reading!
