    All Good Things…

    Tasha Alexander Icon

I’m a little sad to be writing my last blog post, saying goodbye to you all. It’s been such fun being a Good Girl, (virtually) hanging out, and getting to know you. And though we’ve not had one for ages, I’ll always miss our Virtual Cocktail Parties.

Instead of getting all morose, let’s be fun. Answer for me one last set of questions? Please?

    1. What is your absolute favorite line of poetry?

    2. What’s the best book title you’ve ever seen?

    3. What’s your hands-down favorite meal?

    4. What is your all-time favorite book? (I think everyone can guess mine…..)

Have a magnificent 2010 and beyond. I’ll be around on Facebook and Twitter (the blogs of the next decade?), and would love to see you there. A million thanks for all the support–you guys are the best!!!

    xo

    1. Hey Tasha, You were the first blogger I ever followed . . .

      Here goes:

      1. What is your absolute favorite line of poetry?

Oh, this is so hard. Do I go all American with Frost? “But I am done with apple-picking now.”? Or Whitman, “Look for me under your bootsoles”? Or go across the pond to Yeats, “Tread softly for you tread on my dreams.”? I can’t go wrong with Will, “And he shall make the face of heav’n so fine, that all the world will be in love with night and pay no notice to the garish sun.”

      I can’t pick just one.

      2. What’s the best book title you’ve ever seen?

Well, the one that makes me laugh the most is the Taiwanese translated title of what I don’t know, but the translation was “All Men Are Retarded”–it was on the Taiwanese bestseller list right above my own book.

      3. What’s your hands-down favorite meal?

Again, it’s so hard to pick. Anything under a moonlit sky at a table with my husband, a bottle of good wine between us and no phones anywhere.

      4. What is your all-time favorite book? (I think everyone can guess mine…..)

To Kill a Mockingbird. When I open it up it’s like being wrapped in a warm soft quilt.

    2. Judy, I love that I was your first!!! : )

It is impossibly hard to pick just one line of poetry, isn’t it? I’ve always loved this of Neruda’s:

Tonight I can write the saddest lines.

So spare, so lovely. But is it my absolute favorite? I don’t know…..

“All Men Are Retarded.” HA! So that’s what they’re reading in Taiwan?!?!?!

I’m thinking a moonlit sky and a bottle of wine sounds awfully nice.

And I really ought to re-read TKAM. It’s been way too long.

    3. 1. What is your absolute favorite line of poetry?

There once was a man from Nantucket…

      Actually, it’s from Yeats:

“A gaze blank and pitiless as the Sun.”

      2. What’s the best book title you’ve ever seen?

P.D. James has some humdingers. I like “The Skull Beneath the Skin.”

      3. What’s your hands-down favorite meal?

Fried Calabash shrimp and scallops with a big rum drink on the side. Eaten someplace with a view of the water.

      4. What is your all-time favorite book?

Can’t narrow it down to one. I’ll pick a top three:

      THE MALTESE FALCON
      STRANGER IN A STRANGE LAND
      THE GREAT SHARK HUNT

    4. Dusty, great!!!!

      Nantucket, I mean….

    5. Sad to see you go. I’ll try to get to facebook and find you…

      On to my answers…
      1. What is your absolute favorite line of poetry? It has to be Whitman’s

I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

      2. What’s the best book title you’ve ever seen?

      I don’t know…

      3. What’s your hands-down favorite meal?

      Anything with mashed potatoes….

      4. What is your all-time favorite book? (I think everyone can guess mine…..)

      I think it’s The Stand… still…

by Lynn on January 8th, 2010 at 6:16 pm

    6. I have just one word:

      Sniff.

      Okay, maybe two:

      Sniff. Sniff.

      :(

Now I *really* must get to Chicago.

    7. But where are you going and why?

      1. What is your absolute favorite line of poetry?
      Stop all the clocks …

      2. What’s the best book title you’ve ever seen?
THE BOOK OF UNHOLY MISCHIEF by Elle Newmark

      3. What’s your hands-down favorite meal?
I don’t know if I have one, although one I’ve had as my choice for a last meal before starting a strict diet was spaghetti.

      4. What is your all-time favorite book?
Toss up: PRIDE AND PREJUDICE or PERSUASION both by Jane Austen

by PK the Bookeemonster on January 8th, 2010 at 10:55 pm

    8. Wow, last one! Congrats to all of you, ladies. You’ve done a wonderful job for all these years, but I understand the need to move on.

      1. What is your absolute favorite line of poetry?
      A) It changes all the time! So, I’ll give you the one that was my first favorite: “Amy! Don’t go to someone else this time.” So simple, so much in that one line.

      2. What’s the best book title you’ve ever seen?
      A) Pfffttt..easy: AND ONLY TO DECEIVE, of course. I mean, whoever came up with that…whoa, sheer brilliance.

      3. What’s your hands-down favorite meal?
      A) Our bb-q ribs.

      4. What is your all-time favorite book? (I think everyone can guess mine…..)
      A) I will just never have an answer for this.
